Ruth E. Sheets

Ruth Elizabeth Sheets, 97, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Hennis Care & Retirement Center in Dover, following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late Flem and Dessie (Warner) Palmer, Ruth was born June 15, 1918 in Bowerston, Ohio.

Ruth graduated from Bowerston High School in 1936.  Ruth worked at Lauren for 10 years, and upon retirement spent the rest of her career as a self-employed seamstress.  In her free time Ruth enjoyed cross-stitching, knitting, and needlework as well as working on crossword puzzles.  Ruth was also an active member of Broadway United Methodist Church.

Ruth is survived by two daughters, Janet (Leo) Davis of Coshocton and Beverly Sprowls of Sunbury; four grandchildren, Richard and Greg (June) Sprowls, Sarah (Chad) Musser, and Amy (Josh Bigler) Sheets; 7 great-grandchildren and daughter-in-law, Jeanna Allen.

In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, William Sheets, whom she married on November 15, 1945; her son, Robert Sheets and her daughter Kathy McCray.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 2, 2016 from 12 to 1 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.  A funeral service celebrating Ruth’s life will be held in the funeral home at 1 PM with Pastor Mick Foster officiating.  Burial will follow in Leesville Cemetery at Leesville, Ohio.
