Ruth E. Clum, 82, of New Philadelphia, died Monday, November 14, 2005, at her residence following a lengthy illness.A daughter of the late Roy and Louise Hoffman Allensworth, Ruth was born December 28, 1922 in Massillon, O.She attended school in Dennison, and worked at several area stores including W. T. Grant’s, the F.B. Maurer Market, and the Miracle Lane IGA.Ruth was a member of the First Assembly of God church at New Philadelphia and will be remembered by her family and friends as a very hardworking, caring and loving person with a “get it done” personality.She is survived by her husband, Howard E. “Howdy” Clum, whom she married on March 20, 1948; two daughters, Janet Brady, of Las Vegas, NV, and Mrs. Larry (Helen) Clark, of New Philadelphia; a brother, Daryl (Sarah) Allensworth, of Uhrichsville; grandchildren, John (Lori) Bantum, Elizabeth (Henry) Yoder, Paul (Jenni) Bantum, Debbie (David) Decker, Evan (Laura) Davies, Shane (Shelly) Brady; 11 great grandchildren and 2 great great granddaughters.Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jerry Nance; and a grandson, Troy Brady, Jr.Visitation will be Friday, November 18, 2005, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Larry Fletcher on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib chapel. Burial will be at Dover Burial Park.A reception will be held at the First Assembly of God church in New Philadelphia following the committal.Memorial contributions in honor of Ruth may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
