Ruth E. Androsky, age 73, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully late Wednesday evening, May 28, 2008, in her home, surrounded by her family. Born at Roswell, November 30, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Lester and Laura Scott Byers Sr. Ruth was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. For thirty-five years, Ruth worked with Zimmer Patient Care, retiring as a supervisor. She was a member of several organizations in Dover and New Philadelphia, including the Moose, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Eagles Club, Army-Navy, Amvets, and Sams Grill. Many patrons will remember her, as she also tended bar at some of these establishments.As well as socializing with her friends at the area clubs, Ruth and her special companion, Jack Menapace, enjoyed spending winters in Florida, where they collected sea shells and special rocks. They also enjoyed fishing, whether in Ohio or in Florida. In the past months, her daughter Pamela brought the Florida shoreline to Ruth’s backyard, complete with lighthouse, fishing pier, and her favorite rocks and seashells. She enjoyed looking out over it every day.She leaves behind a family that includes her daughters Debi DeVore of Dover, and Pamela Androsky of New Philadelphia, four grandchildren; Kristie (Steve) Amos of Dundee, Steven and Rachel Walters, both of New Philadelphia, and Skylar Morber of New Philadelphia, a great-grandchild; Nathan Amos, a sister; Vera (Daniel) Sheets of Mishawaka, Indiana, and a special companion of ten years, Jack Menapace. In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Steve Androsky, whom she married June 11, 1953. Mr. Androsky died in January, 1991. Four brothers, Charles, Robert, Russell and Junior Byers, are also deceased. Friends are invited to call Sunday, June 1, from 1-4PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Father Ed Keck will lead Mrs. Androsky’s funeral Monday morning at 10:30 in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, New Philadelphia. Following the committal service, family and friends will gather for reception in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home.
