Ruth Charlene (Morris) Moore Stearns, of Dover, passed away unexpectedly at home, September 1, 2007. She was born in New Philadelphia on March 23, 1927 to the late Harry B. Morris and Amelia (Gribble) Morris Elliott.Ruth was a Midvale High School alumnus, a member of the Dover #515 Ladies Auxiliary Fraternal Order of Eagles, the New Philadelphia Order of the Eastern Star #222, the Python Sisters, the New Philadelphia #510 Lady Elks, and the Ladies Auxiliary #1445 of the V.F.W. Ruth is survived by her two children, Charlene K. Postlethwait of New Philadelphia and Arthur R. (Margaret) Moore of Perrysville, Ohio; two step-children, Georgia L. (Jeffery) Stearns Marshall of New Philadelphia and Timothy S. Stearns of Arizona; 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Glenn R. (Betty) Morris of Dover and Jesse D. (Joyce) Elliott of Indianapolis, Indiana and a sister, Barbara A. (Gary) Morris McKain of Mineral City; her special friend and dancing partner, William Shurman of Canton; and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husbands, Arthur Moore and Lester L. Stearns.Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A service celebrating Ruth’s rich life will be held Thursday in the funeral home’s chapel beginning at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor David Dahlstein officiating. Burial will held at Sherrodsville Memorial Garden immediately following the service.The family requests memorial contributions be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.Ruth was loved and will be sadly missed by her family and many friends. She loved life and lived what she believed in.
