Russell Frederick “Jude” Parr, Jr., 65 of New Philadelphia passed away in the Community Hospice House on March 20, 2015 following a period of declining health.
Born April 4, 1949 in Dover, he was the son of the late Russell Frederick and Dorothy (York) Parr, Sr.
After completing his formal education, he honorably served his country in the United States Air Force for 3 years where he served in Iceland, Germany, the Netherlands, and Greece.
His professional career spanned many years with Ecko Products in Massillon. After his employment, he stayed at home and cared for his children and home.
Russell was a wonderful cook, fisherman, and avid NASCAR fan. He also had a passion for building and racing his own cars. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He was very proud of his 16 years in active sobriety, greatly enjoying his fellowship with and involvement in the Dover Alcoholic Anonymous group.
Russell will be deeply missed by his wife, Bonita Marie (Gill) Parr whom he married on April 28, 2000; his children, Amy (Terry) Kasler of Massillon, Russ (Teresa) Parr of Florida, Tracy (companion, Lou Haggloch) Carter of Dover, Amber (Eric) Valentine of Minerva, Wendi (Danny) Myers of Dennison, Tim Gill of Dover; 16 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 3 siblings; his fur babies, Mitize and Laci; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several siblings.
Visitation will be held in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover on Monday, March 23 from 11:30 to 1:30. Pastor Brian Flood will officiate Russell’s service beginning at 1:30. Burial will follow at Dover Burial Park immediately following the service where military honors will be rendered.
