Russell E. Wilson

Russell E. Wilson, age 75, formerly of Massillon, went to be with the Lord, Friday, November 02, 2012 following a brief illness.

A son of the late, Harry and Miriam (Hutchison) Wilson, Russ, as he was known to family and friends was born at Canton, Ohio on July 26, 1937.

From 1960 – 1966 Russ proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. He was employed by Crown Cork and Seal and retired after 40 years with the firm. In his free time, Russ enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Dixie Wilson; a daughter and step-son from his first marriage, Tiffany Schmidt and Nick Vulcan; three grandchildren; a sister, Miriam Strain, two nephews, two nieces, and many “second family” members, all who loved and will miss him.

In addition to his parents, Russell is preceded in death by a brother, Rev. Larry Wilson.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place through Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory at Dover. No public visitation or services will take place.

The family requests memorial contributions in his name be directed to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
