Ruby I. McBride, 88, of Dover, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, December 12, 2014 in the Community Hospice House with her loved ones at her side.
Born November 7, 1926 in Berlin Township, Holmes County, she was the daughter of the late James M. Miller and Alma ( Kaser) Miller. She graduated from Sugarcreek-Shanesville High School in 1945. On March 5, 1950 she married her husband, Louis H. McBride. He preceded her in death in 1979.
Ruby was employed at a variety of jobs but mostly, she loved serving others as a waitress at the Dutch Oven. Her free time included playing cards and spending time in fellowship with her friends and church family.
Her faith was nurtured at the First Moravian Church in Dover where she was a former member of the Women’s Fellowship. Ruby also enjoyed her membership with the Art Guild.
She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Linda (The Rev. David L.) Wickmann of Nazareth, PA; her grandchildren, Christy Scarborough, David S. Wickmann, and Heather (Christopher) Watt, all of Nazareth, PA, and Paul (Jeanine) Wickmann of Havre De Grace, MD; her eight great-grandchildren, Mason Wickmann, Selah Scarborough, Mark, Jack, and Kate Wickmann, and Campbell, Carson, and Connor Watt; one brother; numerous nieces and nephews; and dear friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ruby was preceded in death by two sisters, and one brother. Her remaining brother passed away on December 13, 2014, a day after his sister.
Visitation will be held in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover, 5600 N. Wooster Ave., Dover, on Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. A service celebrating Ruby’s life will be held in the First Moravian Church on Saturday beginning at 10:30 a.m. with The Rev. John Wallace officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the church.
Following the service, burial will be held in Maple Grove Cemetery at Dover. Friends are invited back to the church where Ruby’s church family will host a luncheon.
