Ruby M. Beitzel, 85, of Stone Creek, died Saturday, November 5, 2005 at Union Hospital in Dover.A daughter of the late Jesse and Lydia Hawk, Ruby was born November 9, 1919 in Stone Creek, Ohio.She was a member of the Grace United Church of Christ in Stone Creek as well as a member of the Rebecca Circle (The Working Sisters). Ruby was a member of the Tuscarawas County Farm Bureau and was a co-founder of Beitzel’s Meats along with her husband and son.Ruby loved to quilt and work in her flower garden. She enjoyed spending time with her family and being their listening ear. She will be sadly missed by her family for her wisdom and being there as a shoulder to lean on.She is survived by three children, Viola (Lloyd) Kohr of Dover, Jim (Jan) Beitzel of Stone Creek and Geri (John) Haver of Eastview, Kentucky; seven grandchildren, Karen Barkley, Kathleen Kohr, Lori Lanzer, Marcy Pearson, Richard J. (Rachael) Lanzer, Jamie (Mark) Beaber and Joanna Beitzel; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Ralph Hawk of East Rochester, Ohio; one sister, Laura Hawk of New Philadelphia and many nieces and nephews.Ruby was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Arnold H. Beitzel, whom she married May 8, 1937. Arnold died November 7, 1995. She was also preceded in death by one great-grandson, Cody Lanzer and two brothers, Roy and Max Hawk.Visitation will be Tuesday, November 8, 2005 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Ruby’s life will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Grace United Church of Christ in Stone Creek with Rev. Janet Matthews officiating. Burial will follow in Stone Creek Cemetery. Following the services, a memorial reception will be held in the fellowship hall at Grace United Church of Christ.
