Rosemary Jane Hidey, age 63 of Somerdale, passed away Friday, November 27, 2015, in Aultman Hospital at Canton following complications from heart surgery.
A daughter of the late Thomas H. and Zita M. (Shafrath) Maloney, Rosemary was born at Canton on January 7, 1952.
She attended grade school at Sacred Heart and graduated from New Philadelphia High School. Rosemary furthered her education at Kent State University where she completed a degree in Education.
She was employed in the food service industry for a number of years and most recently was employed by Buehler’s Parkside at Dover. She enjoyed attending St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she sang in the choir and also attended Church of the Holy Trinity at Zoar.
Rosemary was a pet lover, and adored her dogs, Nina and Bill. She also loved camping at Salt Fork and spending time at Atwood Lake. She also enjoyed working in her flower gardens, listening to music, exercising, dancing, shopping, ceramic work, and volunteering at Birthright of New Philadelphia.
She is survived by her siblings, Denny Maloney of Los Angeles, CA, Georgianna (Mark) Kline of Bolivar, and Patrick Maloney of Canton; five nieces and nephews, five great-nephews, and her companion of six years, Bryan McRobie also of Somerdale.
In addition to her parents, Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Hidey in 2002.
The family will greet guests on Sunday, November 29, 2015 from 2-4 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover where a Christian Wake Service will begin at 4 PM. Father Jimmy Hatfield will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, November 30, 2015 at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial in Calvary Cemetery at Dover will follow. A meal and fellowship will follow in St. Joseph Family Life Center.
