Rose Marie Korns Latham, age 76, of Dover, and formerly of New Philadelphia and Massillon, Ohio died Tuesday, June 20, 2006 in Aultman Hospital at Canton following an extended illness.Born July 12, 1929 at New Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Henry W. and Agnes M. Franz Snyder.Rose attended New Philadelphia Schools before going to work as a cook in the former Basetti’s Restaurant at New Philadelphia. She later worked as a clerical specialist in the Massillon State Hospital until her retirement. There, she met and fell in love with a co-worker, John M. Latham. The two married September 5, 1972, and observed their thirty-second wedding anniversary before his death in March, 2005. The couple attended the Barrs Mills Church of God, and Mrs. Latham more recently attended the Dover Alliance Church.Rose was a deeply dedicated mother, who worked night and day to provide for and rear her family. Her lifetime of caring has resulted in a family whom she was deeply proud of, including two daughters, Carol (Tony “Jose”) Cordova of Norfolk, Nebraska, Sally A. Korns and her companion Melody Parks of Orlando, Florida; seven sons, Raymond D. (Chrystel) Korns, Thomas E. (Cheryl) Korns, Henry D. Korns, and Edward L. Korns all of New Philadelphia, Michael D. (Sharon) Korns of Dover, William G. (Janie) Korns of Houston, Texas, and Terry L. Korns and his companion Craig Brown of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. A step-daughter, Bonnie (Frank) Burkett of Navarre, Ohio, and three step-sons, Raymond, (Marie) Latham of Massillon, Ohio, Thomas (Kay) Latham of Homeworth, Ohio, and Charles (Liz) Huddleson of Carrollton, Ohio. Twelve grandchildren, Thomas J. Korns, Tiona (Todd) Campbell, Dale Korns, Jestin (Erica) Korns, Mike Korns Jr., Ed (Lynnette) Korns, Diane L. (Sostenes) Gonzalez, Juan (Cadena) Russell, Jesus (Kathy) Terriquez, Rosie (John) Fields, Shelly (Toby) Miller and Kimberly Taylor; 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia A. (Gene) Mears of Dover, and Mary A. (Richard) Winrod of New Philadelphia, as well as two brothers, Edward E. and William G. Snyder, and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren complete the family. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Latham was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Snyder and three half-brothers. Friends are invited to call Thursday evening, June 22 from 6 until 9 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover, where Pastor Tim Steiner will lead funeral services Friday morning, June 23, at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover. Following the committal service, family and friends will gather for a reception in the hospitality suite in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover.
