Rose M. Kolat, 86, of New Philadelphia, Ohio, passed away Friday, April 6, 2018 at her home in New Philadelphia.
A daughter of the late Jacob and Kathryn (Kowalczyk) Jarosz, Rose was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania on March 20, 1932.
Rose completed her formal education at North Union High School in 1950. On July 4, 1953, she married her beloved husband, the late Francis J. Kolat, Sr. who preceded her in passing on April 3, 2016. Together, they were blessed with the birth of five children, whom Rose loved to care for and spend time with.
Rose also was very supportive of her grandchildren’s interests and tending to her garden. Her faith was nurtured at Sacred Heart Church where she was a member of the Senior Citizens group. She also was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Rose leaves behind her children, Frank Kolat Jr. of Morgantown, West Virginia, Ramona (Eugene) Miceli of Brighton, Michigan, Monica (Dave) Maus of New Philadelphia, Kathleen (Mark) Drotovick of Dennison, Michael (Debbie) Kolat of New Philadelphia; 10 grandchildren, Kevin and Denise Forsythe, Joel and Alison Maus, Brittany Colvin, Danielle Gilmore, Makayla Kolat and Carson, Trey and Jackson Kolat; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; her sister, Kathryn Quarrick of Dunbar, PA; and many nieces and nephews.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her three brothers, John, Andy, and Joe.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia with a Christian Wake service being held at 7:45 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 AM in Sacred Heart Church at New Philadelphia with Father Jeff Coning celebrating. Immediately following the service, a luncheon will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia. In keeping with Rose’s wishes, cremation will follow the services and inurnment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia at a later date.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Rose’s memory to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 139 Third Street NE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
