Rosalie Bucklew, age 88, of Warsaw, died peacefully in her residence during the early afternoon hours of August 16, 2007, following an extended illness. Born at Akron, Ohio, November 21, 1918, Rosalie was a daughter of the late Clarence R. Norton and Virginia Harper Norton. For many years, Mrs. Bucklew worked as a secretary at various locations including Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, during World War II, while she attended classes at Tiffin University. Later, she was affiliated with Warsaw High School, Muskingum Fiber, J.F. Pritchard, Professional Engineers at Kansas City, Missouri, The State of Ohio, Department of Education, The Ohio State School for the Blind, and ultimately, the North Central Accreditation Association of Schools and Colleges from which she retired in 1974. Rosalie was a member of Lodge # 175, of the Order of the Eastern Star, and previously belonged to the former lodge at Warsaw. On August 30, 1941, she married William H. Bucklew. Together the couple would have celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary next week. During their time together, they delighted in traveling throughout the country in a motor home. For sixteen years, the Bucklew family resided at the Ohio State School For the Blind, where Mr. Bucklew was the headmaster. During that time, Rosalie, her daughters and husband, saw their family grow to include hundreds of visually impaired friends, who will long remember Mrs. Bucklew with affection. The tight-knit Bucklew family includes two daughters, Marilyn J. Bucklew of Warsaw, and Ann (Rusty) Harrell of Bridgeview, Illinois. A sister, Elsie M. Allen of Elkins, West Virginia, and numerous nieces and nephews complete the family. Arrangements for cremation have been made through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Plans for a memorial service are incomplete.
