Ron Shepherd, 53, of Florida and formerly of New Philadelphia, passed away August 10, 2021 in Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Florida following a brief illness.
Born in Dover on June 16, 1968, he was the son of the late William and Diana (Martin) Shepherd.
Ron was a 1987 graduate of Tuscarawas Valley High School and Buckeye Career Center. In his earlier years, Ron was the owner and operator of Ron’s Aquariums and Tranquility Water Gardens in New Philadelphia. In 2015, Ron and Becky relocated to North Port, Florida where Ron worked as a Mold Remediator and Master Water Restorer.
Ron loved spending time with his family and enjoyed several hobbies throughout his lifetime. Hobbies included fishing, kayaking, walking, snorkeling, searching for shark teeth and fossils. He found much peace and tranquility at his home in his backyard at their Shepherd’s Oasis Botanical Garden.
The most treasured moments in Ron’s life were created with his family. Several of his hobbies he shared with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Ron will be deeply missed by his high school sweetheart and wife, Rebecca “Becky” whom he married on June 10, 1987; his children, April (Mike) Miltenberger, Alexander (Emma) Shepherd, and Andrew Shepherd; grandchildren, Colton and Cadence Schlabach, and anticipated birth of Jude Shepherd in December; and his brother, Joseph (Michelle) Shepherd.
Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Sunday, August 22, 2021 from 1 to 4 p.m. Rev. Jon Long will officiate a service in the funeral home chapel beginning at 4 p.m. Cremation will be cared for after the service and his final resting place will be in North Port, Florida.
