Roland R. Gribble, 93, of Dover, formerly of New Philadelphia died Monday, November 8, 2004, at the Park Village Care Center in Dover.Roland was born April 8, 1911, in New Philadelphia to the late Fred and Martha Chickery Gribble. He had worked at Empire Detroit Steel (Reeves Mfgr.) for 33 years and was a well known area house painter, painting houses even in his eighties. Roland was a member of the Uhrichsville Church of Christ, and had formerly attended the New Philadelphia Church of Christ. He enjoyed life on earth but looked forward to his heavenly home. He also enjoyed gardening and was always thinking of others and sharing the wealth of flowers and vegetables from his garden. In the words of his family he “was the best Dad anyone could ever hope for”.Roland is survived by daughters, Mrs. Gerald (LaVonne) Barker of Uhrichsville, and Mrs. Wes (Bonnie) Jordan of Powell, O.; sons, Daniel (Crystal) Gribble of New Philadelphia and Phillip Gribble of West Lafayette, O.; nine grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.In addition to his parents; Roland was preceded in death by his wife, Eula Mae (Blackwell) whom he married March 8, 1939; a sister, Mabel (Zimmerman) Craigo; three half-brothers and a half-sister.Visitation will be held Thursday, November 11, 2004 from 1 to 3 & 6 to 8 p.m. at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia. Funeral services will be held Friday November 12, 2004 at 1 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Hopkins officiating. Burial will be at Dover Burial Park.A reception will be held at the Geib Family Center following the committal.
