Roland E ‘don’ Kohl

Roland E. “Don” Kohl, age 83, of Dover, passed away early Thursday morning, August 5, 2010 in Union Hospital at Dover following a period of declining health.Born in Massillon, O. on May 27, 1927, he was the son of the late John Walter and Vesta M. (Phillips) Kohl.Roland completed his formal education and then honorably served our country in the United States Air Force.After his service, he began his career as a foreman. He worked for Eaton Corporation in Massillon and then ran service stations for Swiss Valley Oil before his retirement.On June 18, 1960, Roland married his wife of 50 years, the former Mary Jane Edwards. Together they enjoyed a lifetime of love and dancing. Other activities Roland participated in included fishing and leading the former Scout Troup 83 from 1978 to 1986.In addition to Mary Jane, Roland will be deeply missed by his family which includes his two daughters, Isabelle (Bill) Holley of Cuyahoga Falls, and Darlene (Jim) Stanley of Newcomerstown; his son, Dennis (Myndy) Kohl of Sherrodsville; his brother, Harold (Donna) Kohl of Las Vegas; his sisters-in-law, Carol Phillips of Massillon and Betty Kohl of California; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.Roland was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers including John (Bette) Kohl, William (Paully) Kohl, Jim Kohl, and Tom Phillips.There will be no visitation or services.
