Roger Allen Swinderman

Roger Allen Swinderman, 65, of Midvale died unexpectedly on Monday, April 5, 2010 in Union Hospital at Dover.A son of the late Willard and Frances (Camden) Swinderman, Roger was born in Union Hospital at Dover on May 16, 1944.Roger graduated from Midvale High School in 1961. Following graduation, he enlisted with the United States Army and honorably served his country while stationed in Germany.He was an electrician by trade and retired from Anderson Electric in 1985.Roger was a member of the First United Church of Christ at New Philadelphia as well as the Midvale V.F.W. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Brown, Indians and Cavs. Roger enjoyed racing and enjoyed watching NASCAR races, watching races at Midvale Speedway and he even racing drag cars himself. Roger will be sadly missed by his dear companions, his dachshunds, Spanky and Teabone.He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann (Tatliak) Swinderman whom he married on October 28, 1977; two children, Renee (Roland) Phenney of Ocala, Florida and Brian Swinderman of New Philadelphia; a step son, Daniel (Julie) Stemple of Owensboro, Kentucky and two step-grandchildren, Brenton and Drew Stemple.A brother, Larry (Barbara) Swinderman of Dover; mother-in-law, Bertha Tatliak of New Philadelphia; sister-in-law, Christine (Jack) Sims of New Philadelphia; a brother-in-law, Philip (Alma) Tatliak of Brandon, Florida and several nieces and nephews complete the family.Roger was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Douglas Swinderman and his father-in-law, Michael Tatliak.The family will receive friends on Friday, April 9, 2010 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A memorial service celebrating Roger’s life will follow at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Revs. Jeffrey Gerber and Jill Lovett officiating. Inurnment will follow in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
