Rodgie Frantz

Rodgie Joan Frantz, 93, of Massillon, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2017 in Affinity Hospital at Massillon following a recent illness.

A daughter of the late Rodger Johnson and the late Helen (Renicker) Miller, Rodgie was born November 3, 1924 at Midvale, Ohio.

Rodgie graduated from Midvale High School in 1942. Then, on October 24, 1945, she married George H. Frantz, Sr. and together they raised three children, George, Rodger and Joseph. The couple shared 53 years of marriage prior to George’s passing on December 13, 1998.

She took great pride in being an employee of Manor Care at Canton and caring for the residents. Most of all, Rodgie cherished her family and friends.

She is survived by her sons, George (Susan) Frantz, Jr. of Massillon, Rodger (Kathy) Frantz of Akron and Joseph (Christina) Frantz of Massillon; Neil Shaffer of Massillon whom she considered a son; her grandchildren, George Frantz III, Julianna (David) Lee, Joseph (Dawn) Frantz, Jr., Jason (Megan) Frantz, Jared (Molly) Frantz, Andrea McKinney, Ashley Moyer and Alicia Frantz; her great-grandchildren, Sarah, Annabelle, Ella, Brenna, Dominic, Eli, Jasmine, Jocelyn, Jillian, Jason, Jr., Angelyse, Jett and Jared, Jr., as well as many extended family members.

Rodgie was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Earl Miller, Sr. and two brothers, Danny Johnson and Earl Miller, Jr.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Burial will be held in Union Cemetery at Uhrichsville.
