Roberta “Peggy” West

Roberta Mae “Peggy” West, 89, of New Philadelphia, died Friday, July 8, 2022 in Schoenbrunn Healthcare, after a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late Robert Nelson and Wanda Mae (Swihart) Clark, born on September 22, 1932 in her family home at New Philadelphia, Ohio.

Peggy was a lifelong resident of New Philadelphia and a 1950 graduate of New Philadelphia High School.  She loved to roller skate and met her future husband Richard West while skating at Tuscora Park skating rink.

On August 31, 1952, she married Richard E. West and they enjoyed 34 years before his passing in 1986.

She is survived by her sons, Robert (Brenda) West of Strasburg, Richard (Loretta) West of Strasburg and Daniel West of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Kim (Tom) Ogle, Rebekah (Tony) Mullet, Sarah (Travis) Hostetler, David (Jackie) West, Emily (David) Schultz, Billy (Linda) Grimm and Adam (Heather) Grimm; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

The family will greet guests one hour prior to services on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the chapel of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where Pastor Kevin Anslow will lead a service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in the East Avenue Cemetery.
