Roberta A. Brokaw

Roberta A. Brokaw, 93, of New Dawn Retirement Center at Dover, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 19, 2016.

A daughter of the late Clarence E. and Frances (Agnes) Ashelman, Roberta was born at New Philadelphia on September 20, 1922.

After graduating from Newcomerstown High School, Roberta graduated from Wittenberg University. She furthered her education at Ohio University and Kent State University and taught elementary school for a number of years.

Roberta was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church at Dover where she was involved with the Fred Hyman Circle and the Christian Business Women. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and numerous art clubs throughout the county as well as the Tuscarawas County Senior Center.

She is survived by a sister, Linda Cochenour of Dover, two nieces, Karen and Janet; five nephews, Ron, Brett, Bartt, Chris, and Chad and their families.

In addition to her parents, Roberta was preceded in death by her husband, Carl W. Brokaw, whom she married on October 14, 1967 and her sister, Jane Boger.

The family will greet guests one hour prior to services on Friday, August 26, 2016 from 10-11 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where Pastor Don Rice, Jr. will lead a service in the funeral home’s chapel beginning at 11 AM. Burial alongside her husband will follow in the East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
