Local Band Leader sings his last song. Robert Z. Randolph, 81, of Dover, died Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at Hennis Care Center in Bolivar.Born in Freeport, Ohio on June 1, 1921, he was the son of the late James M. and Harriet S. Taylor Randolph. Bob was a 1939 graduate of New Philadelphia High School. He Played drums and did vocals for the “Nite Owls” for over 40 years. Bob retired in 1983 from the Tuscarawas County General Health District, in Dover, due to illness after serving many years as assistant director. His memberships included the First United Methodist Church in Dover, Dover Elks Lodge, and the American Federation of Musicians.Surviving is his wife, Helen M. (Dummermuth) Randolph, of the home, whom he was married to for 61 years. Also surviving are three daughters, Rita A. Brady, Randa L. (Jim) Espenschied and Robin R. Randolph-Uebel all of Dover; five grandchildren, Stacy L. (Todd) Young, Leigh Ann (Chuck) Hammary, R. Aaron (Christy) Bennett, Macie L. (Kevin) Galigher and Amanda L. Espenschied (Fiancé Troy Reilly); 8 great grandchildren, Logan T. Young, Jacob R. Bennett, Joshua A. Bennett, Abbagail A. Hammary, Jillian M. Hammary, Keton J. Galigher, Rian E. Young and T. Nikki Young; one sister, Bernice L. Bell of Bunnell, Florida.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers.Calling hours will be held Thursday, April 3, 2003, from 5-8 PM at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 4, at 10 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home, with Rev. Glen A. Shedlock officiating. A gathering of family and friends will follow at the Geib Family Center, which is located adjacent to the funeral home. His body will be cremated, and a private family burial will be held at a later date in Dover Burial Park.
