Robert W. Fisher, 80, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, December 14, 2002, at Union Hospital, in Dover. Born March 12, 1922, in Brightwood he was the son of the late Willis A. and Cora McCartney Fisher and loving stepmother and friend, Lena M. Kilchenmann, of New Philadelphia, who survives.Robert was a 1940 graduate of New Philadelphia High School, and served honorably in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He retired from the Pennsylvania Railroad after working many years as a Brakeman. Robert worked as a professional photographer and continued to maintain photography as a hobby throughout his life. He was an avid golfer, a member of the New Philadelphia VFW Post # 1445 and New Philadelphia Elks Lodge # 510.Surviving is three sons, Stephen Fisher of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Charlie (Connie) Fisher and Jim (Casey) Fisher, both of New Philadelphia; a daughter, Ann (William) Hostetler of Massillon; three brothers, Leroy Fisher and Dean (Cheryl) Fisher, both of New Philadelphia, Richard (Phyllis) Fisher of Dover; two sisters, Arlene (Jim) Sigrist of Sugarcreek and Iva Shaw of Sunbury; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and Pongo, his dog and faithful companion.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2002, at 10:30 AM, at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home, New Philadelphia. Burial will follow at East Avenue Cemetery in New Philadelphia. Calling hours will be held from 9:30 Â? 10:30 AM in the funeral home prior to the service.. The family requests that Memorial Contributions be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W. Third Street, Dover, Oh 44622.
