Robert W. Crume

Robert W. Crume, age 97, formerly of New Philadelphia died of natural causes at County Club Retirement Center at Dover, on July 1, 2011. He was born in Wagoner, OK in 1914. In 1937, he married his beloved wife who died in 2008. He graduated from University of Colorado in 1937 and Stanford College in 1940. Robert lived in Texas, Louisiana, Colorado, and Ohio. Robert was an avid hiker of most major mountain peaks in the Rocky Mountain Range of Colorado. He loved to travel and enjoyed a mean game of croquet. He could and often did give a lengthy lecture on almost all the battles of the Civil War, the people involved and included the prelude and consequences from each battle. After moving to Ohio, he traveled to several Civil War reenactments, most recently the encampment at Zoar in 2010. He loved listening to music with Scottish bagpipes a favorite as well as big band songs from the 30’s and 40’s. He is survived by three children, Joanne, Alice and Ralph (wife, Kathie); four grandchildren, Michael, Kathryn (husband, Scott), Tessa, and Brad (wife, Takeo); and eight great-grandchildren; Brandon, Jason, Steven, Kristen, Tyler, Joaquin, Jonathan, and Neal.There will be no public visitation or services. Cremation care will be conducted through Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory at Dover. A family led memorial is planned later this summer in the Rocky Mountain Park area.
