Robert Vernon Carruthers

Robert Vernon Carruthers, 76, of New Philadelphia, died Monday, November 20, 2006 in Union Hospital at Dover. A son of the late Harry S. and Lucy (Willison) Carruthers, Robert was born June 20, 1930 in Strasburg, Ohio.Robert who was a veteran of the United States Army was an excellent carpenter and he enjoyed model airplanes, picture puzzles and was an excellent cook and baker. But most of all, Robert enjoyed celebrating birthdays with his family.He is survived by three children, Kenneth Carruthers of New Philadelphia, Kathy Carruthers of Dover and Rose Carruthers of Dover and two sisters, Bertha Phillips of Sugarcreek and Arlene Owens of Orlando, Florida.Robert was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Raymond, Jim and John and three sisters, Laura, Alice, Mary and Dorothy.Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2006 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Robert’s life will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 in the Linn-Hert-Geib Chapel with Pastors Kelly Brown and Kenneth Yoder officiating. Burial will follow in East Avenue Cemetery where the Tuscarawas V.F.W. will perform military honors.
