Robert V. Fouts, 79, of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, January 22, 2003, at Morningview Care Center, following an extended illness. He was born July 4, 1923, in Dennison, Ohio, to the late John A and Florence V. Fouts. Robert was a 1941 graduate of Uhrichsville High School and went on to attend Miami University of Ohio. He served honorably in the US Army Quarter Master Corp during WWII. Robert was then was married to Mary J. Farmer on December 22, 1945.Robert worked as a photographer for Green Studio, then worked as Parts Manager for Weaver Chevrolet for 13 years, and finally a salesman for Quimby Material Handling Inc. in North Canton for 22 ½ years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in New Philadelphia 57 years where he served as Elder, Trustee and Deacon. Robert was also a member of the New Philadelphia American Legion, New Philadelphia Elks Lodge # 510, where he was a life member, and the New Philadelphia Masonic Lodge No. 177, F. & A.M.Surviving is his wife of 57 years, Mary Farmer Fouts, of the home, a daughter, Susan M. Still of New Philadelphia, a son, Douglas R. (Jill M.) Fouts of Aurora; two grandaughters, Jennifer Still Hostetler of New Philadelphia and Kristen H. Fouts of Aurora; a grandson, Ryan T. Fouts Still of New Philadelphia; three sisters, Jean Thompson of Utah, Helen Davis of Cuyahoga Falls, Nancy Johnson of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.He was raised by his foster parents, Mr. & Mrs. Harry W. Green who were his aunt and uncle and who preceded him in death.A memorial service will be held Sunday, February 2, 2003 at 3:00 PM in the First Presbyterian Church, 217 E. High Avenue, New Philadelphia with Rev. Michael R. Seeley and Rev. Stuart Barr officiating.
