Robert Ray Riley, age 84, of New Philadelphia and formerly of Dennison, passed away suddenly in Twin City Hospital at Dennison Thursday, March 25, 2010.Born in Uhrichsville on February 17, 1926, he was the son of the late Ray D. and Dorothy D. (McClelland) Riley. Bob graduated from high school and then joined the United States Army, having served during WWII. He then completed his bachelors degree from Mount Union College. He taught high school students at the former Goshen Local School District, Indian Valley South, and Uhrichsville School District, retiring in 1982. He then continued working as a self-employed painter.Bob was a life member of the Uhrichsville Elks Lodge #424 and also a former member of the Clayland Lions Club.Bob will be deeply missed by his wife, Hazel L. (Norris) Miller Riley. He is also survived by his son, Kevin (Pam) Riley; his granddaughters, Bryn and Abby; his step-son, Charles A. Miller; his step-daughters, Ann (Kelly) Goodrich and Holly (Mike) Cervellini; and step-grandchildren, Alison Miller who was his primary caregiver, AngiLyn Parker, Amy (Jeff) Carroll, and Alicia (Sal) Estacio; and two step-great-granddaughters, Madeline and Isabella Carroll.In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Wheeler.No public visitation or services will be held. In keeping with Bob’s wishes, cremation will be conducted through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory.The family requests that memorial contributions in Bob’s memory may be directed to the Clayland Lions Club, P.O. Box 223 Uhrichsville, Ohio 44683.
