Robert “Bob” Lorenz, age 67, of Tuscarawas, passed away peacefully early Sunday with his family at his side, in his home. Born at Nineva (near Goshen) in his family home, April 11, 1943, he was a son of the late Warren B. and Helen E. Walton Lorenz. Bob was a 1962 graduate of the former Tuscarawas-Warwick High School, where he met and fell in love with the former Bonnie Roudebush. The couple wed the following autumn, October 26, 1963. Following high school, Bob went to work with Warner & Swasey for the next nineteen years, before joining Marlite, where he retired in 2008. A lifelong member of Sharon Moravian Church, Bob was named an Elder following service to the congregation in many capacities over the years. He really enjoyed spending time with the youth in the church. He’ll be remembered for his longtime community service. Bob was a charter member of the Warwick Lions Club and for more than thirty years dedicated himself to the Tusky-Warwick Volunteer Fire Department, including a lengthy stint as Assistant Chief. Aside from his service at church and in the community, Bob never declined to involve one of his classic cars in a parade, or participate in a car show. In recent years, Bob cherished the opportunity to watch his grandchildren excel in sporting events. In addition to his wife forty-seven years, Bonnie, of the home, Bob will be sadly missed by his daughters, Wendy (husband, Gary) Allensworth and Wanda (husband, Lee) Ledger, all of Tuscarawas. Four grandchildren; Jayson (wife, Brandy) Roth of Columbus, Timberly Roth , Jenna Allensworth and Bryce Allensworth all of Tuscarawas, and two step-grandchildren Jordan Ledger of Tuscarawas and Aaron Ledger of Cadiz also survive. A brother, William Lorenz of Massillon, sisters Patricia “Patty” (husband, Jay) Cole of Uhrichsville, Peggy Swaldo, Linda (husband , Jim) Huff, both of New Philadelphia, and Donna (husband, Robert) Affolter of Tuscarawas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews complete the family. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lorenz is preceded in death by brothers Charles, Thomas, James and Kenneth Lorenz, and a sister, Mary Galanga. Friends are invited to call Monday, March 14, 2011, from 5-8PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. The Rev. Dennis Rohn will officiate the funeral service for Mr. Lorenz Tuesday morning at 11 AM in Sharon Moravian Church, where the family will also receive friends for an hour prior to the service.
