Robert Leo “Bob” Denning, 93, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, November 29, 2008 in the Country Club Retirement Campus at Dover.A son of the late Wesley and Lillian Chandler Denning, Bob was born May 4, 1915, at Dover, Ohio. He was a 1933 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and was retired from the Ohio State Highway Department following 31 years of service. He was a member of the First Christian Church of New Philadelphia and attended Broadway United Methodist Church, at New Philadelphia.Bob enjoyed bowling and was an avid camper and member of the Coachman Club.He is survived by his wife Dorothy M. VanLehn Hykes Denning, whom he married March 19, 1966; a step-daughter, Sandra Kay Yannone, of Phoenix, AZ; a step-son, Terry Lee (Pamela) Hykes, of New Philadelphia; a sister, Esther Miskimen, of Panama City, FL; grandchildren, Heather (Brian) Norris, Jennifer (Seth) Kornblum, Lisa Hykes(companion, Josh Woods) Nick Yannone and Alisha (Claron) Cabatic; great grandchildren, Adam and David Kornblum, Nathaniel and Andrew Norris and Mia Cabatic and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by sisters, Phoebe Ketterman, Lucy McGee and Mary Duve, and a brother, Charles H. Denning.Visitation will be Monday, December 1, 2008 from 1:00p.m. to 2:00p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where Pastor Bill Sowers will conduct a funeral service beginning at 2:00p.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park, at New Philadelphia.
