Robert Lee Flauhaus, 86, of Dover, went home to be with his heavenly father Wednesday, April 30, 2014 in Park Village Healthcare Center following a period of declining health.
Born in Shadyside, O. on November 30, 1927, he was the son of the late Earnest and Lena (Berger) Flauhaus.
After completing his high school education, Bob continued his formal education at the University of Kentucky and Baldwin Wallace College receiving a degree in accounting.
A blind date with a young lady named Shirley led to a beautiful marriage of two soulmates on May 24, 1958.
Together, Bob and Shirley enjoyed a lifetime of creating memories with their family and friends.
He began his professional career as an accountant with the former Grisom Russell Company. Then, he worked as an auditor for the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District until his retirement.
Bob honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1945 to 1947, receiving both the WWII Victory Medal and the Occupation Medal.
His faith was nurtured at First United Methodist Church in Dover for more than 70 years, where Bob served as the church treasurer, a choir member, and assisted with the Boy Scouts for numerous years.
Bob will be deeply missed by his wife, Shirley; his son, Rodney L. Flauhaus and his children Kyra and Kendra of Stow; his brother-in-law, Lawrence (Judy) Holtz of Chardon, O.; and his niece, Dixie Wiles of Berryville, Virginia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother The Rev. Lester Flauhaus.
A service celebrating Bob’s life will be held in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover, 5600 N. Wooster Ave., Dover on Saturday beginning at 2 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Dover Burial Park where the Dover VFW will render military honors.
