Robert L. Schaar, of Goshen, died Tuesday evening, October 21, 2003 at Union Hospital after several months of declining health. He was 71.Bob was born in Goshen on June 2, 1932 to the late Walter and Rachel A. (Zorn) Schaar. At an early age he learned to enjoy spending time with family and staying close to home.At the age of 16, Bob went to work for Universal Sewer Pipe at their Goshen plant and at the time the company ceased operations, he was working at their Plant No. 1. He later worked for Cross Creek Mining as a dozer operator. Bob retired in 1998 as foreman from Costain Coal, formerly Empire Coal. During his working years he also drove truck for D & H Trucking. On December 7, 1951, Bob and Barbara J. Fellers, were married. They had four children, two of whom preceded him in death. Bill died in 1973 and Jim died in 2002. Besides his wife, Bob is survived by his son, Steve (Marge) Schaar of Goshen; his daughter, Sandy (Dan) Fait of New Philadelphia; his brother, Max (Gladys) Schaar of Lancaster, OH; his seven grandchildren, Stacey Preciado and Daylenna Schaar; Bob, Christina and Danielle Fait; Matt and Brian Schaar; and one great-grandchild, Abigail Drescher; and his daughters-in-law, Pam Schaar of New Philadelphia and Sally Snider of Bolivar. In addition to his parents and sons, he was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Daly, of Las Vegas, NV.Visitation will be Thursday, October 23, 2003 (today) from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home where the funeral service will be conducted on Friday at 2:00 PM. Pastor Michael R. Foran will officiate and burial will follow at Sharon Moravian Church cemetery. Following the committal everyone is invited to share in a meal in the church’s Fellowship Hall.Contributions honoring Bob’s life may be made to Sharon Moravian Church, P. O.
