Robert L. Bragg, 76, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, March 20, 2014 at his home following a period of declining health.
A son of the late Leslie and Clara (Johnson) Bragg, Bob was born May 12, 1937 in Plainfield, New Jersey.
Bob graduated from Ridgewood High School in New Jersey. He then continued his education at Bethany College in West Virginia graduating with a degree in business. He had worked as a financial officer for various companies in New Jersey prior to relocating to Tuscarawas County where he retired as the Controller for Barbour Publishing at Uhrichsville. Following his retirement he built and was the owner and operator of a 23 horse farm at New Philadelphia known as Hunter Ridge Farm.
He was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church at New Philadelphia and was also a longtime member and treasurer of the Tuscarawas Philharmonic. Bob was a Hamm radio operator whose call letters were K2DCE and he had a love for music, especially classical and bluegrass. He enjoyed tending to his garden and the company of his faithful companion, his dog, Lovey.
He is survived by his wife, Kristina (Ahlstam) Bragg whom he married on December 4, 1982; his children, Tiffany Ann (Seth) Kopp of New Philadelphia; Karin Kristina Brandt of Ann Arbor, Michigan and Brian Scott (Susan) Donnelly of Newburn, North Carolina; his grandchildren, Kamden Kopp, Vivienne, Jacob and Lily Brandt and Devin and Ian Donnelly; a sister, Evelyn Tregeser of Winchester, Massachusetts: a brother, Edward (Ruth) Bragg of Skaneateles, New York; a brother-in-law, Hans (Leena) Ahlstam of New Philadelphia and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a son, Gary A. Donnelly.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 23, 2014 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Bob’s life will be held on Monday, March 24, 2014 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Robert Kuntz officiating. Burial will follow in Dover Burial Park. Following the committal service a luncheon will be held in the fellowship hall at Broadway United Methodist Church.
