Robert L. “Bob” Karl, 89, of New Philadelphia passed away peacefully in Community Hospice Truman House on Monday, September 12, 2022, after complications of a stroke.

Born in New Philadelphia on May 2, 1933, he was the son of the late Leo W. and Florence L. (Lab) Karl.

He was a 1951 New Philadelphia High School graduate and then honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

On October 27, 1956, he married the late Gena (Comignaghi) Karl; together the couple enjoyed 47 wonderful life-filled years until her death on March 29, 2003.

Bob was a hard-working, loving, and giving father who lived life to the fullest. In his early years, he spent time with his family, took care of his yard, traveled, and enjoyed helping his boys with construction projects in their homes. He also loved supporting his grandchildren at their respective sporting events.

He is survived by his three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert A. (Donna) Karl, Timothy (Kim) Karl, Douglas (Leslie) Karl and Rhonda Karl, wife of deceased son, Mark, who passed away on November 22, 2021. Bob was also blessed and very proud of his 10 great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Adelynn and Camdynn Karl, Hoyt and Rhett Rummell, Gabby and Lucas Cunningham, Charlotte Bellomy, and Lilah and Bennett Krebs.

Surviving are his brother and sister, Tom (Judy) Karl and Sandie (Carl) Rufener; sisters-in-law, Barb Karl and Loraine Karl; and two very special friends, Verna Simmons and her son, Jim.

In addition to his parents, wife, and son, Bob was preceded in death by his brothers, William and Joseph Karl; his sister, Mary Anne Lehman; and his great-grandson, Colson Robert Dean Karl.
