Robert W. Kraus, age 75 of Bolivar, passed away October 21, 2024 in his home surrounded by his loving family, following a period of declining health.
Born July 1, 1949, in Massillon, he was a son of the late John S. and Helen Marie (Simpson) Kraus.
After graduating from high school, he was drafted in the US Army where he spent 2 years serving our country in Vietnam. He then began a 30-year career in the shipping department at Nickles Bakery. After retiring from Nickles, he owned and operated Mowers and More, Inc.
On September 25, 1971 he married the love of his life, Nancy Jean Baker and together they have enjoyed 53 years of marriage. In their free-time they enjoyed traveling in their motorhome. Bob also enjoyed camping, fishing, and playing golf. He was also a gifted craftsman. He loved working with wood and making various gifts for family members. But his greatest joy was watching his grandkids playing various sports.
Bob is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Jonathan Robert Kraus of Bolivar, Matthew James Kraus of Crystal River, Florida, and Samantha Dawn (Tyler) Greene of Navarre; grandchildren, Avery James Greene, Maya Grace Greene, and Kinsley Hope Greene; brothers, John E. Kraus, and Thomas M. (LaDonna) Kraus; sister-in-law, Joy Kraus; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, James D. Kraus
A Celebration of Bob’s life will be led by Pastor Dwight Mason on Friday, November 1, 2024 at 1:00 PM in Geib Funeral Center at Dover, where the Carl C. Stoller Post 1445 will offer military honors. A private interment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donation be made in Bob’s name to Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
