Robert James Hykes

Robert J. “Bobby” Hykes, Jr., 45, of Canton, died Monday, December 8, 2003 at Aultman Hospital.He was born March 19, 1958 in Dover to Ann F. Taylor Hykes and the late Robert J. Hykes. Bobby graduated a year early, in 1975, from New Philadelphia High School. During these years Bobby was a member of the First Baptist Church in New Philadelphia and helped build its then new building on Commercial Avenue. At 17, he joined the U. S. Air Force just like his Dad. He served honorably and was discharged in 1976.For ten years he worked for Greer Steel Co. in Dover. On December 10, 1996 he married Rosemary Kopp. They were each other’s best friend and enjoyed traveling together. Bobby and Rosemary attended Dover’s Church of the Harvest.Bobby is survived by his wife, Rosemary; his mother, Ann Hykes of New Philadelphia; two sisters, Robin Hykes of Cleveland and Kitti (Michael) Long of Hamilton, OH; mother-in-law, Margaret Kopp of New Philadelphia; two nephews and four nieces.The memorial service will be Saturday, December 13, 2003 at 10:30 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home with Rev. Hombre Liggett officiating. Cremation will take place at Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory in New Philadelphia.
