Robert J. Haines, Jr.

Robert J. Haines Jr., age 61, of New Philadelphia died, Thursday, September 23, 2021.

Born on October 21, 1959, in Dover, Ohio, Robert was a son of Robert J. Haines, Sr. of North Carolina and the late Patricia Ann Haines.

A 1978 graduate of New Philadelphia High School, Robert was a self-employed electrician a career path he chose after following in the footsteps of his paternal grandfather and uncles. Bobby loved going to car races and auto shows and hunting when he could. He also enjoyed walking on the beaches while visiting his family in North Carolina. His favorite pastime, however, was enjoying time with his friends, he talked of them often.

He is survived by his father and stepmother, Robert J (Celia) Haines, Sr. of Morehead City, North Carolina; his sister Betsy (Wayland) Sumerlin of Greenville, North Carolina; his niece, Anna Nicole Sumerlin; his nephew, Spencer Hoyt Sumerlin, two step-sisters, a step-brother, and many special cousins and friends.

In addition to his mother, Robert was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, Anna and John Ricklic, and Fern and Lenoard Haines.

There will be no public visitation or services at this time. Cremation care will be handled through the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.
