Robert J. Brayley, 76, of New Philadelphia, died early Christmas morning, December 25, 2003 at Hennis Care Centre in Dover. A native of Alliance, Ohio, Bob was born February 16, 1927 to the late John H. and Mildred E. Saltsman Brayley.During World War II, Bob served honorably with the U. S. Navy, from 1944 to 1946. He worked for Ohio Edison as an electrician for 38 years before retiring. In his leisure, Bob loved fishing and, for many years, had a campsite at Clendening Reservoir. He also enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren.On April 30, 1977 he married the former Martha Jane Haught. Martha Jane died September 2, 1997.Bob is survived by a son, John Brayley; stepdaughter, Lezlie (Steve) Johnson of Sherrodsville; stepsons, Barry (Lucinda) Anderson of Port Charlotte, FL; Mark (Kathy) Anderson of Mt. Vernon, OH; and Eric (Belinda) Anderson of Toronto, OH; grandchildren, Sean, Nathan and Evan Johnson; Brant Caddick and Vincent Anderson; Kelli, Jonathon and Julia Anderson; and Grant Brayley; and a sister, Jackie Cummings.In keeping with Bob’s prior wishes, his remains have been donated to Ohio State University.
