Robert H. Abel

Robert H. Abel, 76, of New Philadelphia, died Sunday, August 24, 2014 at his home.

A son of the late Harry S. and Anna K. (Ashman) Abel, Robert was born January 7, 1938 at Zoarville, Ohio.

Robert was a veteran of the United States Army having served from 1961 to 1963. He was also a former member of the Midvale V.F.W. Post #9620.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie A. (Murray) Abel whom he married on November 22, 1968 and two brothers, James Robert Abel and Clyde William Abel.

Robert is survived by a cousin, Bob Abel and his family and his adoptive family, Edie and Lee Walters, their daughter Leslie and her children, Phebe, Agitha and Liam.

They will miss his big smile and warm heart and they dearly loved him.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Cremation will follow and inurnment with military honors will be held in East Avenue Cemetery at a later date.
