ROBERT EUGENE BRENLY, 73, life-long resident of the Baltic area, died Saturday afternoon, March 29, 2003 in the Baltic Country Manor.Born February 3, 1930 in Mechanic Township, Holmes County, Bob was a son of the late Harvey and Gertrude Hault Brenly. On August 22, 1951 he married Irene Nealey. Shortly after being married, he entered military service during the Korean War. Bob served honorably with the 702 ordinance maintenance company, 2nd (Indian Head) Division of the U. S. Army. He always enjoyed working with motors, so following his honorable discharge in 1952, he began working as a mechanic. During his career he worked for various garages including Tri-county Chevrolet in Baltic, Ferris Motors in New Philadelphia, Welker Motors in Newcomerstown and for the Union 76, formerly the Sunoco, station in Baltic. For a short while Bob also worked for Belden Brick in Sugarcreek. In his spare time he enjoyed antique tractors, attending steam engine shows, collecting model cars and watching NASCAR races. Bob was a member of the VFW and the Baltic American Legion post. He is survived by his wife, Irene, of the home; sons, Ernie Brenly and his companion Karla Davis of Baltic; James and his wife Jennifer Dollague Brenly of Dayton; grandchildren, Jon David and Jason Lee Brenly, Lee Mullins and Mariah Davis; brothers, Otto and his wife Pearl Brenly and Ronald and his wife Edna Brenly; and a sister, Marie Brenly, all of Baltic; many nieces and nephews. Following Bob’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or service.
