Robert E. Lute

An all-giving son, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Robert E. Lute, Sr., has gone home to walk the streets of gold with his mother, father, brother, sister, granddaughter, niece, and nephew. Robert passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at Morning View Care Center after a long battle with illness.Born November 3, 1929, in Baltzey Valley in Goshen Township, Ohio, Robert was the son of the late Ralph L. and May Holbein Lute.He became a steel worker for the former Reeves Steel in Dover, Ohio where he worked for 38years, retiring in l986. After his retirement, he became a well-known vendor at the Dover Flea Market and other Ohio markets including those in Port Clinton and Lancaster. A big-hearted helper to everyone he met, Robert loved playing Santa Claus at the Dover Flea Market, and enjoyed wood working. He loved spending time with his large family and especially enjoyed his many loving dogs.He will be greatly missed by his wife, the former Helen Kohler, whom he married September 4, 1949; daughter, Glenna M. (Dean) Miller; sons, William R. Lute, Robert E. Lute, Jr., Harmon A. Lute, Vernon E. (Myra) Lute; adopted son, Ken D. McDonald; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sister, Betty J. Justice; numerous nieces nephews, great-nieces and great nephews, and great-great nieces and and great-great nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Ralph E. Lute; sister, Ethel F. Lanzer; granddaughter, Betsy Lynn Lute; niece, Lula L. Reynolds; and nephew, Jeffrey A. Lanzer.In accordance with Robert’s wishes, he will be cremated at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia. A memorial service to honor his life will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Chapel on Friday, December 31, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with family friend, Elder Glen Carlisle officiating. Following the service, friends are invited to a reception in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W.
