Robert Eugene Kutcher, age 81, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully, Sunday, March 27, 2011, in New Dawn Retirement Center at Dover following a brief illness.A son of the late William and Mary Lower Kutcher, Bob, as he was known to his family and friends, was born at Baltic, Ohio on February 17, 1930.He attended Dover High School and was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean War. Having honorably served our country from 1951 Â? 1953, Corporal Kutcher was stationed in Japan as a guard.Upon his discharge, Bob married the former Ethel E. Linard on June 14, 1953, and reared one daughter. Bob was employed by the General Electric Company at Dover. After serving 37 years with the company, he retired from the position of crew leader for the wire drawing department in June of 1990. Following his retirement, Bob found himself working for a number of area florist as a part-time delivery driver.Bob was an avid sports fan and a faithful follower of the Cleveland sports teams. His love for sports was a longtime passion as during the 1960’s he was a coach for the West Elementary boy’s basketball team which went undefeated in 1964. He also enjoyed spending time out of doors meticulously caring for his lawn and the floral beds which surround his house. Bob was known as a light-hearted individual who enjoyed finding humor in almost any situation, showing his ornery side, and rarely missed an opportunity to tell a good joke or share a story. In addition to his wife, Ethel, of nearly 58 years, Bob will be missed as a loving and caring father to his daughter, Deb (husband Larry) Bower of New Philadelphia; and as mentor and role model to his grandson, Jeremy (wife, Chantelli Fulst) Bower of Lincoln, Nebraska. Two sisters-in-law, Ethel D. Kutcher and Nadine Kutcher; a brother-in-law, Bill Rohn, and numerous nieces and nephews complete the family.In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Martin and Anna Mae Rohn; and three brothers; Wade, Ward and Kenneth Kutcher.The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 30, 2011; one hour prior to services, from 2:30 Â? 3:30 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church at New Philadelphia where Reverend Richard Greenwood will lead a memorial service celebrating Bob’s life at 3:30 p.m. In keeping with Bob’s wishes, private burial will take place in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia where members of the Carl C. Stoller Post 1445 of the New Philadelphia VFW will render military honors.
