Robert Eugene Fait, age 80, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, July 18, 2013, under the care of Community Hospice House following a lengthy period of declining health.
A son of the late John and Rose (Kubick) Fait, Bob was born at Roswell, Ohio on June 12, 1933.
He graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1951 and entered into the United States Army during the Korean Conflict where he served state-side as a Medic in the former 11th Airborne Unit.
Upon his return to the Tuscarawas Valley, Bob began working for the former Goshen Dairy Company at New Philadelphia as a milkman. He later joined the Educational Service Center where he delivered equipment and supplies to area schools. Following his work with the ESC, Bob was employed by Reclamation and Air Survey. He later relocated to West Virginia where he began work with the Lawson Hamilton Coal Company and was eventually afforded the opportunity to operate his own mine. Prior to formally retiring, Bob returned to New Philadelphia where for a number of years he worked for the former Anderson Medical as a Customer Service Representative.
In his free time, Bob enjoyed bowling, golfing and fishing; but later in life, found great joy in the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Fait of Dover; two daughters, Bobbi Mehok of New Philadelphia, Sally (Mark) Waltz of Dover; two sons, Dan (Sandy) Fait and Fred (Jackie) Fait all of New Philadelphia.
Ten grandchildren, Jeff (Krista) Mehok, Abbie (Josh) Anderson, Jenn (Terry) Howard, Kristin Waltz, Bob Fait, Christina (Chad) Dixon, Danielle Fait, Jake, Tiff and Terri Fait as well as eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews complete the family.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen DiNicola; two brothers, Ted and Edward Fait and a great-granddaughter.
In keeping with Bob’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or services. Cremation care has been conducted through Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory.
