Robert Daniel Jones, 74, of Dover, died Saturday, October 31, 2009 in Hennis Care & Retirement Centre at Dover following a period of declining health.A son of the late Clyde Jones Sr. and the late Maxine (Holdsworth) Jones, Bob was born July 8, 1935 at Dover, Ohio.Bob graduated from Dover High School in 1953 then enlisted with the United States Army serving at Ft. Knox and in Alaska.On December 13, 1958, he married the love of his life, the former Linda Welsch and together the couple reared five boys, Stanley, Robert, Brock, Damon and Jason.Bob retired in 1995 from the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services as the Claims Supervisor. He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ at Dover and was a former member of the Dover Tornado Club where he once served as the secretary. Bob enjoyed sports and volunteered seven years of his life as a coach for the Steelers of the Dover Youth Football League as well as 14 years as a coach for Dover Little League Baseball. He was also an avid fisherman.Bob will be remembered by his family as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He cherished the time spent with his grandchildren and for 11 years, his daily routine consisted of walking his faithful companion, his German Shepherd, Baron.Bob is survived by his loving wife of almost 51 years, Linda Jones; his sons and daughters-in-law, Stanley and Elizabeth of Westerville, Ohio, Robert and Mary Ann of St. James, Missouri, Brock and Lisa of New York, Damon and Jennifer of Ravenna, Ohio and Jason and Angela of Dover and 11 grandchildren, Brittany, Brandon, Collin, Derek, Caleb, McDowell, Brock, Jr., Hannah, Lindsey, Jesse and Cameron.Completing the family are sisters, Joanne Deibel of Strasburg, Mary Lou (Charles) Orr of Lancaster and Terri Schaar of Dover; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Welsch of Dover; a sister-in-law, Sallie Jones of New Philadelphia; an aunt, Evelyn Jones of Dover and several nieces, nephews and cousins.He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Lisa Ann and a brother, Clyde “Bud” Jones Jr.In keeping with Bob’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services and cremation will take place through the care of the Geib Funeral Center at Dover.Contributions may be made in Bob’s memory to the Dover Youth Football Association, P.O.
