Robert Dale Shearrow, 69, of New Philadelphia, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2002, in Union Hospital.Born March 26, 1933, he was a son of the late Alex and Lelora Parks Shearrow. Robert was a member of the First Baptist Church in New Philadelphia and proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He attended Cambridge High School, worked at Goodyear Aerospace and retired in 1989, after 30 years of employment with Joy Manufacturing. Along with his expertise in machinery, he enjoyed gardening and woodworking. Photography and listening to music were two additional interests of Robert’s.Surviving is his wife, the former Mary M. Moore, whom he wed on July 15, 1955 in Port Washington, OH; a daughter, Nancy L. (fiancé, Robert Maze) Blackwell-Strong of Dennison; two granddaughters, Melanie Blackwell of Bolivar and Nicole Strong of Dayton; a brother, Russell (Ann) Shearrow of Abingdon, VA; a sister, Betty Swigert of Dennison; three brothers-in-law, Bill (Patsy) Moore of West Lafayette, OH, Clyde (Margie) Moore of Port Washington and Robert L. Moore of New Philadelphia; two sisters-in-law, June (Dan) Markley and Margene Ridgeway, both of West Lafayette, OH; and many nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2002 at 10:30 AM, in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home, New Philadelphia, with Pastor Mark Trotter officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens with Military Rites presented by VFW Post #1445. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 1, from 5-8 PM in the funeral home.
