Robert D. Polen, 74, New Philadelphia, died Sunday, July 18, 2004, at Country Club Center in Dover.Born November 3, 1929, in Dennison, OH, he was the only son of the late Roy F. and Mary B. VanLehn Polen.On July 16, 1950, he married the former Hazel J. Weiss, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage before her death in December of last year.Robert was retired from a managerial position with United Airlines and from Marlite Industries in Dover.He attended Park Christian Church in Dennison and was a member of the Dover Moose.He is survived by a daughter, Paula (Kevin) Van Gaasbeck of Sanger, CA; sons, Michael R. Polen of New Philadelphia, and Gary (Connie) Snyder of Pasagola, MS; eight grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and niece, Barbara Mast of New Philadelphia.Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a sister.Visitation will be at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia on Tuesday, July 27, 2004 from 12 Â? 2 pm. Services in the funeral home chapel will be conducted on Tuesday at 2:00 pm. by Pastor Glen Shedlock, chaplain of Tuscarawas County Hospice.
