Robert D. “Bob” Martin, II, age 58, of New Philadelphia, died suddenly Wednesday evening in his home.
Born at Dennison, December 17, 1954, he was a son of Ruth Shalosky Martin of Port Washington, and the late Robert D. “Bob” Martin.
Bob was a 1973 graduate of Indian Valley South High School before going to work for Alsco until 1977 when he joined Dan Fox Construction. He Joined the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District in 1979 where he worked for the next two decades.
In 1998 he realized a longtime ambition of opening his own concrete and construction company and for the next decade owned and operated Martin Concrete and Construction. He worked for Village of Newcomerstown Street Department from 2008 until recently.
When not busy with work duties, Bob delighted in spending time with his son and friends toiling in his garage, attending and participating in ATV pulls, watching basketball and following motocross racing.
Bob was loved by many friends and family who include his wife of 37 years, the former Lucinda “Cindi” Fisher Martin, who survives of the home, and his son Andy (wife, Karen) Martin of Dover.
Four sisters, Janet (Jerry) Barker and Beverly (Dan) Kinsey both of Port Washington, Mary Lou Killam of Stone Creek and Shirley (Chuck) Muhs of Newcomerstown also survive.
His father and mother-in-law Dick and Judy Barr Fisher of Uhrichsville and many nieces and nephews complete the family.
Friends are invited to call Monday, April 1, from 2-4 and from 6-9 in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Scot Caley will lead Bob’s funeral service Tuesday morning at 10 in the funeral home’s chapel with burial to follow in Port Washington Cemetery.
A reception will follow interment in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home at New Philadelphia.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
