Robert D. Gibbs

Robert D. Gibbs, 63, of New Philadelphia, died in the Community Hospice House on Sunday, October 18, 2015.

Born in Dover on October 19, 1951, Robert was the son of the late Eugene Kenneth and Barbara Lee (Winbigler) Gibbs. He was a 1970 graduate of New Philadelphia High School.

Robert was a self-employed carpenter, and specialized in kitchen installations. He also enjoyed his time on Saturday afternoons playing cards, golfing, and tending to his garden. Robert was a member of the New Philadelphia Amvets and the VFW. He also supported for The OSU Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns and Cavaliers. Throughout his lifetime, he played in various bands, but was known for his drumming with the band, Trash. He will long be remembered for his hot peppers and wine-making.

He is survived by his brothers, Steve (Peg) of North Lawrence, O., and Richard of New Philadelphia; his companion, Denise Lukens of New Philadelphia; his niece and nephews, Joe, Elizabeth, Neil, and Charlie; and numerous other friends and family members.

A Celebration of Robert’s life is being planned by his family and friends.
