Robert M. Carr, age 87, of Uhrichsville, died Saturday, July 18, 2020, while under the care of Crossroads Hospice in Claymont Health and Rehabilitation Center at Uhrichsville.
Born on November 11, 1932, in West Lafayette, Ohio Bob was a son of the late Thomas and Mary E. (Hill) Carr.
He was a graduate of Newcomerstown High School and on July 11, 1952, married the former Janet Gold. As a couple, Bob and Janet enjoyed Square Dancing at Nuhall for many years. Bob worked for the former Alsco Company at Gnadenhutten for 43 years prior to his retirement.
He had a lifelong love for football, having played in high school and continuing as a fan of the game by being an avid follower of Ohio State and the Cleveland Browns. Bob enjoyed coaching little league when his sons were younger. He also enjoyed boating, weightlifting, riding motorcycles; and for years, being active on the C.B. radio where he went by the handle, Boxcar. Bob was also a fan of Country Music and enjoyed singing the classic tunes.
In addition to his wife of 68 years, he is survived by his children, Debra Kimble of Dover, Cynde (Bob) Green of Dennison, Sonja (Todd) Kinsey of Dennison, Robert Troy Carr of Dayton, and Eric (Deanna) Carr of Delaware and 12 grandchildren, Hillarie (Derek) Hegarty, Cortney (Adam) Rennecker, B.J. (Rebecca) Green, Tiffany (Jason) Crutchfield, Tara (Hector) Vega, Travis (Brittany) Kinsey, Jordan Skelley, Taylor Carr, Ryan Carr, Caitlynn Carr, Cody Carr, and Paris Roten; 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Completing the family is a brother, Donald (Margie) Carr of Port Washington, two brothers-in-law, Walter Brenneman and Rolland Snell; a brother and sister-in-law, Teddy (Judy) Gold, and sister and brother-in-law, Suzie (Harry) Heavilin as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a son, Robin Carr; three sisters, Carol Lucas, Beverly Brenneman, and Barbara Snell as well as a brother, Steven Carr.
A private family service will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Cremation will take place through the care of Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory with inurnment in Union Cemetery at Uhrichsville will take place at a later date.
