Robert “Bob” Caples, age 81, of Country Club Retirement Campus at Dover, died Saturday, April 10, 2010.A son of the late Charles and Valera (Rogers) Caples, Bob was born on August 27, 1928 at New Philadelphia, Ohio.Bob served in the United States Army during World War II and Korea. During his service to his country, Bob was awarded various medals which include: World War II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, National Service Defense Medal, Korean Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, United Nations Service Medal, Honorable Service Lapel Button and a Sharpshooter Badge. He went on to receive his formal education from Kent State University where he studied Accounting.For more than twenty years Bob was an Accountant with the General Motors Company at Detroit, Michigan. Following retirement and his father’s passing he returned to New Philadelphia to care for his mother. Upon his return to the area he served as a clerk within the Tuscarawas County Courthouse and owned and operated a lawn care company which earned the respect of many customers.Bob leaves behind a family which includes two sisters, Jean Fink and her husband, Nelson of Piqua, Ohio and Carol Gribble of Lusby, Maryland; a niece, Sharon Morris and her husband, Michael of Owings, Maryland a nephew, Michael Gribble and his wife, Jane of Lusby, Maryland and a very special friend, Rhoda Jenkins of New Philadelphia.In keeping with Bob’s wishes there will be no public services or visitation. Cremation care will be conducted by Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory at Dover.Those wishing to send the family personal condolences may do so by signing the online guest registry located on the funeral home’s website.
