Robert C. Mock Sr., 81, of Uhrichsville, died Sunday, March 2, 2008 in Walnut Hills Nursing Home following a short illness.A son of the late Michael and Florence (McMonagle) Mock, Bob was born October 31, 1926 at Akron, Ohio.Following completion of high school, Bob enlisted with the United States Army and was stationed in Japan and the Philippines during World War II. He was most recently employed with B & B and Son’s Heating and Cooling at Manchester, Ohio where he recently retired at the age of 80.In his younger years, Bob was active in the Soap Box Derby and was known as the “Toe Headed Wonder of Akron”.He is survived by his loving wife, Marylou (Runge) Mock, whom he married on July 2, 1958 at Mansfield, Ohio; his children, Robert Mock Jr. and his companion, Shirley of Akron, Jeff (Charlene) Mock of Houston, Texas, Rod (Jessica) Mock of New Philadelphia, Joyce (Jerry) Patterson of Uhrichsville, Wendi (Harold) Barker of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Randal Turner and his companion Maggie of Canton, Ohio and Edward and Dawna Turner of North Canton, Ohio; 19 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; three sisters, Florence Goad of Pennsboro, West Virginia, Carolyn Ferguson of Murietta, California and Emily (Doug) Sheets of Simi Valley, California and two brothers, Dr. Michael (Kathrine) Mock of North Canton, Ohio and Leo (Helen) Mock of Canal Fulton, Ohio.Bob was preceded in death by three sisters, Elizabeth Morrison, Rita Tapp and Eleanor Markle; two daughters-in-law, Brigetta Mock and Heather Turner and three brothers-in-law.Family and friends may call on Thursday, March 6, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Bob’s life will follow at 8 p.m. in the funeral home’s chapel.
