Robert E. Brown age 86, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully, Monday, February 5, 2024, while in the care of Community Hospice’s Truman House at New Philadelphia.
Born on February 10, 1937, Robert was a son of the late Joseph W. and Irene Yegher Brown.
He was a 1955 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and soon after entered into the United States Navy until 1959. Professionally, Bob served as a Machinist for the Timken Company at Canton for 44 years and was a longtime member of St. John’s United Church of Christ at Dover.
On November 23, 1957, Bob married the love of his life, the former Marilyn Hadorn. Together the couple have celebrated 66 years of marriage and raised three sons.
In his free-time, Bob enjoyed playing cards, farming, camping, traveling after retirement, and any activity that involved family.
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by three sons, Robert E. Brown, Jr. of Florida, David A. Brown of New Philadelphia and Rodney K. (Tracey) Brown of Florida; grandchildren, Nicole Mosley, Christopher (Jennifer) Brown, Julie (Jacob) Knight, Ryan (Jacqueline) Brown, and Bradley (Emily) Brown, and 11 great- grandchildren.
Completing the family are two brothers, Tom (Sue) Brown, and Jerry (Judy) Brown; a sister, Carol (Bill) Arnold; and a sister-in-law, Janadean Brown as well as numerous nieces and nephews and a special family friend, Elizabeth Williams.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph W. Brown, Jr. and Richard Brown, and two sisters-in-law, Sandi Brown and Penny Brown.
The family will greet guests on Thursday, February 8, 2024, in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. Pastor Dotty Hartzel will lead a service celebrating Bob’s life in the funeral home’s chapel on Friday, February 9, 2024, at 10:30 AM. Burial with military honors presented by the Carl C. Stoller Post 1445 VFW will be rendered at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens.
The family requests memorial contributions in Bob’s name be directed to Community Hospice 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663 or to St. John’s United Church of Christ 409 North Wooster Avenue, Dover, Ohio 44622.
