Robert Allan “Bob” Bigler, Jr, 61, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, December 16, 2008 in Aultman Hospital at Canton while recovering from recent heart surgery.A son of the late Robert Allan Bigler, Sr and Virginia May (Price) Bigler, Bob was born November 24, 1947 at Dover, Ohio.He graduated from Midvale High School in 1967 and then attended the Akron Barber College. While attending Barber College, Bob worked as a butcher at Buehler’s Grocery Store. For the past 38 years, Bob dedicated much of his life to his business, Bigler Barber Shop at Dover. He took great pride in his work and he enjoyed the camaraderie of his customers. Whether it was catching up on current events or telling jokes, he always appreciated conversations with customers.Bob was a former member of Midvale Methodist Church and Emmanuel Lutheran Church at New Philadelphia. Recently he has been attending New Pointe Community Church at Dover and he thoroughly enjoyed the fellowship of his church family.He enjoyed gardening and watching college basketball. One of his proudest accomplishments however was his ability to always win the family screaming championship.Bob was also a devoted son. When not at the Barber Shop or with his daughters, he graciously was taking care of the needs of his parents and just spending time with them.He is survived by his loving daughters and their companions, Tennile Bigler and Nick Puskarich of Carrollton and Sara Bigler and Scott Roby of Dover; sister, Marcia Bigler of Dover; an aunt, Edith Bigler of New Philadelphia and several cousins.Friends may call on Thursday, December 18, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Bob’s life will be held on Friday, December 19, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Chapel with Pastor Chad Stutzman officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.Those wishing to do so may send the family a personal condolence and view an online memorial by visiting the funeral home website.Contributions may be made in Bob’s memory to the American Heart Association, Ohio Valley Affiliate, P.O.
